The Invisible Chains of Secularism: Time to Rethink Bharat's Future

Date: 23rd July 2026

Dear Seekers of Truth,

Before we defend an idea, perhaps we should ask where it came from.

Examining the origins of secularism and its place in India’s civilisational journey.

Dharma vs Secularism: Why Western Secularism Fails in Bharat

What if secularism is not a universal principle, but a uniquely European answer to a uniquely European problem?

Europe’s secular tradition emerged from centuries of conflict between Church and State. It reflected Europe’s history, institutions and religious experience.

Bharat emerged from an entirely different civilisational foundation.

Its organising principle was never secularism. It was Dharma. Not merely religion, but the ethical order that guided society balanced rights with duties and sustained civilisation for millennia.

So the deeper question is not whether secularism is good or bad. The deeper question is this: Why has Bharat come to understand itself through borrowed ideas instead of its own civilisational framework?

Drawing on history, philosophy and constitutional development, we’re exploring how a single imported concept continues to shape the way millions of Indians understand their nation today. Whether you agree or disagree, this monologue is an invitation to think more deeply. Because before we defend an idea, we should first ask whose idea it was to begin with.
