The King Promises to Protect British Hindus… Fact or Fiction?

Date: 8th July 2026

The King Promises to Protect All Faiths — Should British Hindus Trust the Promise?

Caveat Tutus: Let the Protected Beware

When the King announces his intention to protect “Faiths”, including British Hindus, the invitation is clear: to welcome the promise of royal protection and place trust in the words of the Crown. Yet history demands reflection. The same institution that now speaks the language of protection carries a long imperial memory of promises made to Indians — promises of equality, liberty, and welfare that were not always matched by reality. The question before British Hindus is not whether protection should be welcomed, but whether such protection is defined by genuine respect and action or merely by carefully crafted words.

The Dharmic response is one of viveka – discernment. History shows that declarations of protection must be examined through their consequences, not their presentation. For Hindu Dharma to be truly respected, it must be recognised as a living civilisation with its own traditions, philosophy, sacred practices, and spiritual depth – not simply managed, categorised, or protected on terms defined by others. Trust is earned through conduct, and true protection must be demonstrated, not announced.
